“Two podiums and multiple heat race wins in North Carolina”
Fort Lauderdale, Florida – It was a winning weekend for the Benik brand at the second round of the World Karting Association (WKA) Manufacturers Cup this past weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Entering three drivers across four classes, the Florida based outfit claimed one pole position, four heat race wins, two podium results, and one main event victory all while gaining experience for future races.
Leading the way at the end of the weekend was Micro ROK driver Asher Ochstein as he managed to improve throughout the weekend to top the podium blocks. After qualifying in the seventh position, the young driver steadily improved in the progressive heat race format finishing sixth in race one, winning the second heat and coming home fourth in heat three. With the pace to lead, Ochstein did just that, managing to put his Benik chassis out front and steal the win.
“It was a great weekend for Team Benik but especially for Asher,” explained Nick Mitchell. “This is Asher’s first real national event victory and though he has been so close in the past, he was able to get it done this weekend. Congratulations to Asher. It’s great to see his progression, and he has come such a long way since he started with us last year.”
Jeremy Fletcher pulled double duty on the weekend competing in both ROK Junior and 100cc Junior and was one of the drivers to beat in ROK division claiming the pole position and all three heat race wins. With new rubber in the main event and some tire and track issues, Fletcher fell one position in the final tally but put another Team Benik driver on the podium.
Michael Costello ran in the top-ten of the X30 Junior class throughout the four-day event and after qualifying in the front half of the field, ended his weekend in tenth.
“We attended the event to test for future races here and are really happy with the entire WKA program,” added Mitchell. “A few minor hiccups but it was good to be back at a national event and see everyone again. We are looking forward to round three of the Manufacturers Cup program in a few weeks’ time.”
With the country opening back up and karting getting back to full swing, now is your opportunity to join Team Benik. For more information on the Benik Kart, or Team Benik program, please contact Nick Mitchell via e-mail to Info@Benik-Kart.com or by phone at 561.348.4406.
