Fort Lauderdale, Florida – It was the annual trip to Las Vegas for the unofficial close of the karting season for Team Benik. Taking on the 25th annual Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) SuperNationals on the temporary circuit adjacent to the RIO All Suites Hotel & Casino, the Florida-based outfit departed Sin City with some hardware earning podium results in the Micro Swift and KA100 Senior classes at the hands of Troy Ferguson and Frankie Mossman.
“It was another good weekend for Team Benik as we showed the pace of our products on karting’s biggest stage,” expressed Nick Mitchell. “A big shout out to Troy and Frankie for their podium results, but also to the rest of Team Benik for a great season, and a great SuperNationals.”
It was two drivers who flew the Team Benik colors in the Micro Swift category as Ferguson was joined by Royce Vega at the front of the field. While both drivers flexed their muscles in the heat races to solidify fifth and sixth-place starting spots for the main event, it was Ferguson who rose to the occasion to earn a podium result for Team Benik. Battling at the front of the field and in contention for the win, Ferguson finished less than nine-tenths of a second behind the eventual race winner and scored the second-fastest lap of the main event. Team Benik teammate Royce Vega had trouble on the first lap and fell to the tail of the field and the 39th position. Showing his race-winning pace, Vega went from 39th on the opening lap to crossing the line in the 16th position.
Mitchell added, “It was a shame to see Royce fall down the running order so early as I think we were poised for a pair of podium results. Both Troy and Royce proved they are championship-winning drivers, and they will be a force in 2023.”
Competing in a pair of SuperNationals classes, Frankie Mossman battled in both X30 Senior and KA100 Senior. Another driver who showed speed in both categories for Team Benik, Mossman had a main event in X30 Senior to forget but stood on the podium in the KA100 ranks. Starting 12th in the 100cc class and moving to the point to take the lead mid-race, Mossman eventually crossed the stripe in the third position and scored a SuperNationals podium for himself and Team Benik.
Mitchell continued, “A big shoutout to Gabby Guidera for a solid performance in Mini Swift. Progressing all season long and displaying that pace in Las Vegas, Gabby had a solid performance in several heat races running well inside the top-ten. Ultimately her main event finish was not what she or the team deserved but it was an impressive display as she continues her upwards trend. Additionally, Jace Lidstrom showed incredible pace in X30 Master running inside the top-five throughout the heat races but some tough luck in the main event forced him down the running order and to a sixth-place result. Great job Gabby and Jace.”
Team Benik has now shifted their focus to the popular Florida karting programs and will take part in the SKUSA Winter Series and 25th annual Florida Winter Tour beginning in January.
Looking to add drivers to their program for the 2023 season, Team Benik has opportunities available.
