“Eight drivers vying for ROK the RIO titles in Las Vegas”
Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Entering one of their largest driver contingents of the 2020 season, Team Benik will travel west to the ROK Cup USA ROK the RIO. With eight drivers scattered across three classes, Team Benik will aim for the top step of the podium at the annual ROK Cup USA ROK the RIO. Taking place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino on a temporary circuit in the parking lot adjacent to the hotel, the goal is simple for drivers attending the prestigious November 4th – 8th event.
“We have a quality group of drivers and feel that we can stand on the top step of the podium in a couple of different classes,” expressed Team Benik’s Nick Mitchell. “We had a strong run in Micro ROK here in 2019 and were in the position to take the win until a broken chain while leading put our driver on the sidelines. While anything can happen, we are hoping for just a bit better luck in 2020.”
Leading the way into Las Vegas will be a trio of drivers in the Junior ROK category. While Team Benik regulars Michael Costello and Jeremy Fletcher will compete for ROK the RIO glory, they will be joined by perennial frontrunner Thomas Annunziata.
Mitchell added, “Our junior trio is headed to Las Vegas hungrier than ever. Both Michael and Jeremy have been fast throughout the season and would love to end the year on top.”
With three drivers in junior, Team Benik will enter four more in Micro ROK led by multi-time race winner and ROK Fest East Micro ROK Champion Asher Ochstein. While Ochstein looks to keep
Team Benik on top in the Micro ROK class, he will be joined by Sebastian Cortes, Sarah Bradley and Royce Vega on the familiar Benik blue chassis.
“We have added some new drivers to our program, and we think they will be instant contenders,” explained Mitchell. “While we are aiming for the top step of the podium, we are also preparing for the 2021 season.”
Joining Team Benik one race ago, Logan Vajda will travel with the team to Las Vegas. Gaining experience with each passing lap, Vajda will take on the temporary racecourse as he continues his upward trend and preparation for 2021.
ROK Cup USA ROK the RIO on track action will kick off Wednesday, November 4th with practice as champions will be crowned on Sunday. Stay tuned to the Team Benik social media pages for news, results and photos from the event weekend.
