Fort Lauderdale, Florida – With the turn of the calendar and a start of a new season of racing, Team Benik will enter seven drivers at this coming weekend’s Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Winter Series. Taking place in the shadows of the Homestead-Miami Speedway at the AMR Motorplex, Benik drivers will aim to kick off the 2021 campaign victorious in South Florida.
With a strong finish to 2020 including being named the ROK the RIO champions in the Micro ROK category, a new season will see seven drivers scattered across four classes in Homestead. Switching to the IAME powerplant to kick off 2021, a pair of drivers will fly the Team Benik colors in Micro Swift as Royce Vega and Sebastian Cortes will look towards the top step of the podium. Multi-time 2020 race winner Asher Ochstein will make the jump to Mini Swift as he will compete alongside Enzo Vidmontiene.
“We have a good mix of drivers that should challenge for both race wins and championships in 2021,” explained Nick Mitchell, Team Manager for the Benik pr
ogram. “While we have four drivers in the younger classes, we have three drivers in the X30 ranks that will lead our program into a new year of competition.”
Returning to Team Benik in 2021 will be multi-time race winner Jeremy Fletcher as well as perennial frontrunner Michael Costello. With a years’ worth of experience under their belts, look for the junior duo to attack from the very first practice session in Florida.
Logan Vajda joined Team Benik late in 2020 and instantly improved his on-track performances. Securing his first career top-ten in national level karting, Vajda is looking for more in 2021.
Mitchell continued, “Jeremy is a proven winner and with his experience gained in 2020 will be a major threat for championships this season. Michael has proven to have the speed to be at the front and Logan has shown huge progress in only a few events with us. We have the goals set high for these three as well as the rest of the Team Benik drivers.”
While drivers can practice all week, they will all be working towards rounds one and two of the SKUSA Winter Series on Saturday and Sunday. Stay tuned to the Team Benik social media pages for news, photos, results and information from the event.
