Fort Lauderdale, Florida – As quick as the first events of the season have come and gone, Team Benik heads into February and their third major karting race of the season. Traveling back to the AMR Motorplex for the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Winter Series finale, Team Benik will bring a healthy eight driver squad as they look to turn the momentum gained in January into wins in February.
“We have a similar driver lineup this coming weekend that we had last month,” explained Team Benik’s Nick Mitchell. “Our nine drivers will be broken down into four classes, and I am confident that we have several opportunities at race wins and podium results.”
Team Benik’s largest quantity of drivers will come from the X30 Junior class as a quartet will look to battle for the win. Michael Costello, who earned the round one pole position, and Enzo Vidmontiene, who claimed a top-five result in round two, sit fifth and seventh in the championship standings after the first two rounds and will aim for the top step of the podium to give themselves a shot at the series title. Round two podium winner Brandon Carr overcame a disappointing race one to climb to a third-place result in race two as he looks to continue his upward progression while Gavin Whitt continues to gain experience and build his race craft in the talent filled X30 Junior class.
Single entries for Team Benik will come in the form of Frankie Mossman in X30 Senior and Beckham Toupikov in the Mini Swift ranks. Mossman, who battled hard in the top-ten, has proven his speed in the senior ranks in the Team Benik program while Toupikov was in the front third of the forty-kart strong Miin Swift class. Both drivers will be looking to improve on their results this weekend as the SKUSA Winter Series ends.
A duo of drivers will fly the Team Benik flag in Micro Swift as Troy Ferguson and Royce Vega will throw their hats into the mix. Ferguson and Vega have proven to be strong in winter karting action and should factor into the results as both Team Benik drivers sit in the top twelve in the SKUSA Winter Series Championship points standings.
Team Benik will hit the track on Wednesday for unofficial practice before wheel-to-wheel racing commences on Saturday and Sunday.
