Fort Lauderdale, Florida – A new month means a new series of competition for Team Benik as the Florida based program moves into March with a trio of major events. Taking on the Ocala Gran Prix (OGP) this coming weekend, Team Benik will enter five drivers in the opening round of the United States Pro Kart Series (USPKS). With podium results at popular winter programs in January and February, Benik drivers will look to carry that momentum into three weeks of racing.
Three of the five Benik competitors will hail from the Micro and Mini Swift ranks as they will be led by 2021 race winner Enzo Vidmontiene and 2020 karting champion Asher Ochstein. While both drivers have shown race winning pace and been at the front of the field to date this season, they will be looking to start the 2021 USPKS season off with a race win. Joining Vidmontiene and Ochstein in the cadet ranks will be Micro Swift driver Royce Vega who will look to learn from the elder statesmen in the Team Benik program.
Michael Costello will be the lone Team Benik entry in the X30 Junior Pro class as he will look to find his way to the front of the talented field of drivers. Another driver who continues to show progression under the Team Benik guidance is Logan Vajda. Competing in the X30 Pro class, Vajda will be aiming to gain more experience and knowledge as he climbs his way up the results sheets.
“This week starts a crazy three weeks of national level racing,” explained Nick Mitchell. “We have several drivers who will be running all three races with us but there will be a few that run one or two so logistically, it is a challenge. While we look to start the USPKS program this week and the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour in two weeks’ time on the right foot, we will also aim to close the ROK Cup USA Florida Winter Tour strong.”
Team Benik will hit the track for the opening round of the United States Pro Kart Series (USPKS) this week with official practice taking place on Friday. Two days of wheel-to-wheel action will commence on Saturday with round one while the checkered flag on round two will fly on Sunday afternoon.
