Fort Lauderdale, Florida – With a brief hiatus in the karting season, Team Benik will head north from their home base in Florida to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Set to take on the United States Pro Kart Series (USPKS) program at the famed Road America, Benik will enter five drivers across three divisions as they look to kick start the second half of the kart season.
“We are ready,” explained Nick Mitchell. “We have had a few weeks off and it was good to recharge the batteries. We have been able to do some organizing, planning, and prepping and we are now set for the second half of the season. While we are focused on this weekend, we can’t help but look forward to future events later this year.”
Four of the five Team Benik drivers will contest in either Micro or Mini Swift as Michael Costello will be the lone competitor in the Junior ranks. While Costello will look to put his name at the top of the charts in X30 Pro Junior, Royce Vega and Troy Ferguson will aim to continue the momentum they were able to attain at the most recent national-level karting event. Vega and Ferguson will contest in the Micro Swift class.
Multi-time race winner Enzo Vidmontiene and 2020 champ Asher Ochestein will aim to put the Benik brand on top in Mini Swift. Always a threat for race wins and podium results, Vidmontiene and Ochstein will look to push their competitors down the running order as they fight for front of the field results.
Mitchell added, “We will have a pair of test days later this week before race action begins on Saturday and Sunday. The goals for our program have been set high, and we will be working hard to achieve them.”
While the USPKS will be on track this weekend, Team Benik has also begun to plan for the two biggest karting events of the season later this year. With the ROK Cup USA ROK Vegas and the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals dates confirmed and registration open or opening soon, Team Benik has several race team opportunities available.
