Fort Lauderdale, Florida – In a weather filled final weekend, Team Benik closed the 2021 Florida Winter Tour with one podium result, two top-ten finishes and a Vice Championship. With rain, mist, and cold temperatures providing mixed conditions for all competitors, it was a challenging weekend to close the popular ROK Cup USA winter program, but Benik Kart drivers managed to find their way to the front half of the field.
Entering the weekend with a shot at the 2021 Florida Winter Tour Mini ROK championship, Enzo Vidmontiene battled hard but came up just a few positions short. Classified fifth after the three heat races and finishing third in the prefinal, Vidmontiene rocketed to the lead during Sunday’s main event and led early. Trying to break away from the pack and drive to the win, Vidmontiene put his Team Benik entry where it needed to be but was chased down by a hungry pack of drivers. Finishing fourth on track but classified sixth after penalties, Vidmontiene was name the 2021 ROK Cup USA Florida Winter Tour Vice-Champion.
Asher Ochstein had a trying weekend in the Mini ROK class as he battled inside the top-ten for the majority of the event. Never giving up and always working hard, Ochstein showed flashes of pace, but some bad luck on track hindered his performances. In the end, Ochstein earned an 11th place finish in Ocala and put two Team Benik drivers in the top-ten in points with a seventh-place result in the championship.
Competing in the talent filled Senior ROK class and battling challenging weather conditions throughout the weekend, Logan Vajda ended his weekend with a 16th place finish. After being classified 15th after the heat races and finishing 13th in the prefinal, Vajda raced hard in Sunday’s main event to finish just outside the top-15.
Michael Costello was the lone Team Benik driver in the Junior ROK class and drove his way to a solid top-ten result. Finishing his Florida Winter Tour in eighth, Costello earned a 14th place result in the series points battle after having a difficult round back in February.
Benik Kart driver Marco Romero added another podium result for the brand with a third-place result in the Micro ROK class.
“We will have a quick turnaround and head to the NOLA Motorsports Park this weekend for the first round of the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour,” explained Nick Mitchell. “We will switch to the IAME engine package and Envico tires as we start another new championship program in 2021.”
